The practice
Seeing the world as interdependent systems.
Baanabo is the landscape architecture practice of Sabiha Ambareen Haque. Sabiha is an architect and landscape designer with experience in design, build and research across Bangladesh and the United States. Her training in architecture and landscape architecture gives her an aperture to see the world as systems that are interdependent — and exclusive — at the same time.
Her work moves between the drawing board and the ground: community-led construction in the chars and refugee camps of Bangladesh, curatorial research into displacement and memory, and the teaching of landscape architecture to a new generation of designers.

Khudi Bari
A modular, bamboo climate-resilient housing system for Bangladesh's displaced char communities — recognised with the 2025 Aga Khan Award for Architecture. Sabiha works on the implementation team of FACE.
Absence as an Artifact
A curatorial project on the displaced communities of the Kaptai Reservoir — the "Nowhere People" of the Chittagong Hill Tracts — exhibited at Khoj Studios, New Delhi, 2026.
Bengal Institute
Research and design on architecture, landscapes and settlements as a Senior Research & Design Associate at the Bengal Institute for Architecture, Landscapes and Settlements, Dhaka.
